Self-Control Issues Image

One of the toughest things I often hear people tell me is that they have a very difficult time living life in moderation. Apparently, many of them just do not know when to say when! In my article on Portion Control and Learning a Four Letter Word, I discussed how some people have a hard time putting down their weapon of choice (fork) at the dinner table once they start to chow down. They say that time flies when you are having fun! And then you get old… Well, it doesn’t have to be that way. After all, age is just a number and how old you feel is just a state of mind. With that said do you feel younger than the D.O.B. on your driver’s license? The famous developmental psychologist Erik Erikson discussed how our personalities and social development evolves over 8 stages in our lives with the last culminating in ego integrity versus despair when we become seniors. What he was basically saying was that when we reach senior citizenship we either look back on our lives and embrace/accept what we’ve accomplished and who we’ve become, or we shake our heads and ask ourselves, “What might have been?”
