How to turn conscious goals into your reality…

In Part I of this two-part series, which you can read here, I discussed how important it is for you start your day off with reviewing what you will do to ensure you move forward on your goals each day.

I also provided insights into goal setting, and specifically the use of SMART goals to ensure you have clearly articulated goals that are achievable and relevant.

I ended the first part by introducing to you the concept of translating these conscious goals to unconscious goals so your unconscious (or subconscious) mind will accept them, and chug away in the background to move you towards them while you work, play, eat and sleep.

Before I delve into how to do this it’s important you understand why you need to do this and how others have used this concept in the past to make breakthrough and enlightening discoveries.


Why you Need to Translate Conscious Goals to Unconscious Goals:

Enlisting the help of your subconscious mind to do anything can be tricky. The subconscious mind is where all our habits are formed – good and bad – and it protects us from harm by running many things on autopilot for us so we don’t have to think about them.

Once the subconscious buys into our goals then you have this powerful ally on your side working 24 hours a day to get you the results you need to meet your goals.

History provides countless examples of individuals who made startling discoveries thanks to their subconscious. Einstein while sleeping imagined himself traveling on a beam of light and looking back, and thereby solved a major problem he was wrestling with at the time.

Thomas Edison was known to use self-hypnosis when confronted by a vexing problem and literally “dreamed-up” solutions to problems that stumped him during his conscious hours.

I would lay down a dollar this has happened to you. Most of us have wrestled with trying to remember a name or place but in the moment can’t however hard we try. We get distracted on something else and shortly after the answer “comes to us” when not even thinking about it, right? Well, your subconscious mind was thinking about it all the time in the background.

There are many more examples but you get the drift.

Translating Conscious Goals to Unconscious Goals:

While we may repeat a goal in our conscious mind it does not mean this will automatically be accepted by our unconscious mind – this is the tricky part I mentioned earlier. Why is this so?

Well, there may be a serious conflict between what you want in your conscious mind and what your unconscious mind experience supports.

For example take a weight loss goal of losing 60 lbs. If you’ve struggled with losing weight all your life then you’ve probably developed a feeling of failure when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off. No matter how many pounds you want to lose its just not going to happen if the goal is expressed by losing 60 lbs.

The words we use to speak to our subconscious mind are key to getting it to help with goals.

The unconscious mind more readily accepts the real purpose behind a goal such as how you will feel and how you will be as a person when you achieve the goal. This allows the unconscious mind more freedom to find other versions of the goal it can help achieve than you conceive at the conscious level.

How do you actually do this?

Once you have done the translation of your goal to expressing it in a form the unconscious mind accepts then the easiest way to plant the seed there is through hypnosis. Hypnosis talks directly to the unconscious mind without going through the conscious mind. You can enlist the help of a trained hypnotist to do this or you can use self-hypnosis.
