How to Recall What You Read

Not recalling what you just read isn’t always a memory issue…

Are you one of those people who reads a paragraph, let alone a sentence and then has to re-read it because you already forgot what you just read?

Is it because you are trying to understand what it is that you are reading?

Perhaps it is because your mind is racing a mile of minute with mind chatter and clutter, that you can’t focus your attention on what it is that you are reading.

If you are looking for a way to get what you are reading not only into your immediate understanding, but your longer term memory as well, then hypnosis might be the benefit you are looking for retain what you are reading.

Did you know that before you even speak you already visually perceive what it is that you are going to say? Some experts refer to this as the micro-genesis of the communication process which includes both talking and listening.

Did you know that reading works much the same way?

Think about it for a moment…when you are reading, you are actually speaking to yourself, also known as narration. And in order to speak, you first must visualize in microseconds what it is that you are going to say, or in this case read to yourself.

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool for helping with memory when it comes to reading because it helps individuals establish a greater sense of tunnel vision or focus. This tunnel vision helps to block out irrelevant stimuli which detracts you from focusing most what it is you want to engrain into your memory.

Furthermore, hypnosis helps tap into the right hemisphere of the brain – the side that is responsible for visuals, artistic and creative abilities.

With that said, hypnosis can help you instantly visualize what you are reading, become more focused on it that it interests you, and eventually engrains it into your memory. And if the visuals alone are not enough, you can be taught to use sounds, such as music, themes, etc., that can help make the reading stimulus even more stimulating – it’s like watching a movie and hearing the theme music in the background which makes the movie seem more exciting.

In this case, you develop an internal “mental theme set” whenever you read to make your reading more stimulating and memorable.

Of course this comes through using hypnosis and using the post-hypnotic suggestions and cues to get you to that point of concentration. By the way, this does not take long and you can be doing it as fast as right after the first session.

If you are looking to try hypnosis to expand and enhance your reading or memory skills, it is best to try a session or two with a trained hypnotherapist to coach you through the process.  They can help you meet your needs and demands accordingly.

After becoming trained in the process, you can do it on your own, continue to see the hypnotherapist to improve your skills, or use great hypnosis and meditation CD’s which train you to achieve a heightened level of focus.
