Memory loss concerns can happen at any stage of life

Are you one of those people who have troubles remembering things?

Perhaps you can’t seem to remember things from years ago, months ago, even weeks and days ago? Dare I suggest that you might not even remember what you just read!

Okay, maybe not that bad already, but you get the drift. When you have trouble remembering things, especially those things that you would most like to recall, it can prove majorly frustrating! Fret not, as there are some things that you can do to improve your memory.

There are many suggestions for improving memory that come from a variety of domains.

I am going to mention just a few of the more popular ones that hold credibility in their methods for improving memory and keeping things easier to recall in our mental filing cabinets.

One thing that really helps with improving memory as well as improving knowledge is reading.

Reading helps improve memory for a variety of reasons. First, when you read, especially something you enjoy reading, it entertains and holds interest. You are more likely to hold onto facts from things that have provided enjoyable experiences.

Also, when you read, you are working the brain like you would a muscle. The brain likes to be stimulated and when you read you get the neurons in your brain firing!

Write things down and say things out loud!

When you are having difficulties remembering things, or trying to improve your memory it is a good idea to make “shopping lists“. When you do this, first you become less frustrated over forgetting the little things so to speak. When you are frustrated it leads to stress and anxiety and this really does impair memory.

Writing things down helps you to “not have to sweat the small stuff“. Why worry about forgetting about something as small as a grocery item?

Also, when you start writing things down and saying things out loud, combining audio with visual encoding has been proven most effective for learning and remembering things. When you do this over time, the mind looks for certain cues to pick up on and you can and will get to the point where you don’t have to write everything down.

Modern science has shown that supplements have the amazing ability to improve memory.

Gingko biloba, Omega 3-6-9 oils, Krill oil, vitamin B’s and coconut oil have been show and proven to have tremendous health benefits on the brain. In some cases, they have even been proven to enhance cognitive functioning while preventing/stopping the onset of various dementias.

I strongly encourage using hypnosis!

Hypnosis whether it be under the guidance of a trained hypnotherapist or through self-hypnosis CD’s has tremendous benefits for improving memory. Learning to use post-hypnotic cues for remembering as well as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) have tremendous potentialities for improving upon or opening up new neuro-pathways in the brain to improve memory.

Memory is very much like physical activity and exercise. The more you work on it, the more you improve its ability to perform at a higher level.
