It’s a frustrating cycle. You lose weight… you gain it all back… you wait awhile… then you go on a diet again – maybe a different one – and lose weight again… and then eventually you end up weighing more than you did when you first began all this weight loss stuff.
And this cycle is the same for both women and men… no different.
It’s not just frustrating but depressing – terribly depressing. Eventually you resign yourself to nothing working.
Not even the low calorie diets eventually work and you reach a point where going on a diet seems to pack on the pounds rather than shed them.
Unfortunately this is true for many on the weight loss treadmill… but it doesn’t have to be that way.
A weight loss journey should be made just once – no more – and that’s why you’re reading this because you want to know why it’s so difficult and how you can break the cycle.
Amy took part in my group weight loss hypnosis study and wanted to be able to fit into her jeans but has gone on to a specific weight loss target. She sees how this can be reached using hypnosis and the other elements of my weight loss program. The Chemistry of Your Body:
- This could be caused by a fat burning hormone being too low, or
- Your hunger hormone is too high so you feel hungry all the time, or
- You’ve a blood sugar imbalance making it hard to burn fat, or
- You’re creating too much cortisol caused by stress that creates belly fat.
And of course these are not mutually exclusive, meaning you could have more than one imbalance going on in your body. The correction is to get rid of the foods that aggravate these factors, and substitute with those that don’t, and thereby put the chemistry of your body back in alignment.
Addicted to Cravings:
If you find yourself hankering for something sweet or savory during the mid-afternoon or in the evening after dinner then these are usually symptoms of sugar addiction or carbohydrates cravings rather than hunger.
Being addicted to sugar and refined carbohydrates is a common issue.
Our diets are heavy in highly refined carbohydrates which are just another term for sugar.
If your diet contains large doses of potatoes, pasta, white bread, white rice, corn, and sweetened beverages then you’re in the danger zone of sugar addiction. Now it doesn’t mean you can’t eat these foods at all but there’s a balance to strike. Cravings can be managed in a two-prong attack.
The Right Portion Sizes:
So why is it that when some people pick up their fork they become possessed – struggling to put it down and only eating until they are uncomfortably full?
It’s a habit and a deep rooted one at that, hankering back to the past and tied to an event that can’t even be remembered now. The fact is you can be satisfied on less even if you think you can’t. But there are strategies to control your portions without staring down at a plate with just a few morsels on it which doesn’t satisfy either.

Losing Weight by Sheer Will Power:
As people have described to me how they’ve lost weight on a fad diet program it occurs to me most lost weight more through sheer will power than anything else. Especially where counting calories or preparation of complex food combinations was required.
